Bergen Backpack

Description

Durable and compact bushcraft backpack inspired by military heritage

The Bergen, inspired by military backpacks from World War II, holds 18 liters of gear. Similar yet smaller than the Matilda, it's made from abrasion-resistant Cordura® 500D, making the Bergen a backpack designed for bushcraft.

Is the Bergen backpack suitable for intensive outdoor use?
The Bergen is made of tough 500D Cordura®, making it highly abrasion-resistant and ideal for bushcraft and other demanding outdoor activities.

Simple and durable solutions

The backpack features 3 external pockets:

  • 1 in front,

  • 2 on the sides,

each one with drawstrings and flap closures secured by fastex-type buckles. Just above these is a single long row of MOLLE/PALS-compatible webbing, where you can attach gloves, and additional pockets, or cover it with a fabric flap if not needed. This allows the Bergen backpack to be customized to the user’s activity profile: maintaining a bushcraft look or emphasizing tactical features. There’s also a flat pocket on the flap above the main compartment for handy small items.

Can the Bergen backpack be expanded with extra pouches or gear?    Absolutely – the MOLLE/PALS webbing allows you to attach additional pouches or equipment, or cover the system for a more traditional look if preferred.

Functional interior and tool space

Underneath the flap is a drawstring and the main compartment’s chimney, designed to adjust the backpack's height depending on how full it is, also serving as a way to protect the contents from the weather. The main compartment is spacious and includes a designated space for a hydration bladder and a flat zippered pocket for safely carrying documents or valuable small items. Essential bushcraft tools can be carried beneath the external pockets: two pass-through (e.g., for an axe) and three non-pass-through (for a knife or folding saw). The reinforced bottom of the backpack has sewn-in straps for attaching a sleeping bag or jacket.

Can the Bergen carry bushcraft tools and a sleeping bag?
Definitely – it features both through and non-through pockets for tools like an axe, knife, or saw, and bottom straps for securing a sleeping bag or jacket.
